Sometimes it's best to know before you go. These following questions may be of some help before your adventure with us.


Where does the ferry leave from in Hilton Head?

The Island's only public ferry operates out of Broad Creek Marina on Hilton Head Island with daily (excludes Sundays during the winter season) round trip ferry service to historic Daufuskie Island. Please arrive 30 minutes before the Ferry is scheduled to depart.

How do I get from the Mainland to Broad Creek Marina?

From the bridge, remain on US-278 E/William Hilton Parkway, and as you travel onto the island (approximately 1 ¾ miles), keep left to continue on the Cross Island Parkway.

Take the first exit (approximately 2 ½ miles) to Marshland Road. Turn left onto Marshland Road and travel almost 1 mile to Simmons Road. (You may also see a brown sign for Broad Creek Marina.)

Turn right onto Simmons Road. Take the immediate next right (approximately 100 yards) and follow the drive to the parking area. Please park in the center parking aisle as it is reserved for Enjoy Daufuskie visitors.


How do I get from Coligny Circle to Broad Creek Marina?

Follow Pope Avenue to the Sea Pines Circle, and at the traffic circle, take the 2nd exit to continue onto Palmetto Bay Road. Continue onto the Cross Island Parkway and go over the bridge.

Stay in the right lane and take the immediate exit for Marshland Road just after the toll. Turn right onto Marshland Road and travel almost 1 mile to Simmons Road. (You may also see a brown sign for Broad Creek Marina.)

How do I get to Daufuskie Island?

Most folks board a ferry straight to Daufuskie, but if you'd rather sail yourself, finding Freeport Marina by personal watercraft is a breeze.

How long should I plan to stay?

You're invited to stay as long as you want! Some visitors make an entire day of their stay, while others hop over for lunch and a tour. Plan ahead for a special history tour followed by lunch or dinner at Freeport Marina. Enjoy a Scrap Iron (drink) while you relax to live music and great company. Ask about our overnight accommodations.


What should I plan to bring with me?

Aside from appropriate attire, consider bringing along a camera, cash/credit cards, driver's license (or state issued ID), and personal medications. We have a fully stocked general store for extras like bug spray, sun tan lotion, and more.


What age range is Daufuskie best suited for?

While the history tours are really designed for ages 12+, all ages are welcome! Freeport Marina is a family-friendly place with a restaurant, bar, activities outpost, working marina, and general store.


What forms of payment do you take?

For marina and restaurant operations, we accept cash and major credit cards, including VISA, Master Card, and Discover.

What should I plan to wear?

Freeport Marina and Daufuskie Crab Company are casual. We welcome guests in whatever attire they feel most comfortable. For outdoor activities (depending on season), we recommend a good pair of tennis shoes for exploring the Island. Hats and flip flops welcome.


How long is the ride to Daufuskie?

When boarding our ferry, passengers should plan for a 50 minute one-way trip to Daufuskie Island, weather permitting. See schedule information here.


What if there is an Emergency on Daufuskie?

Although rural, Daufuskie Island is modernized with local 911 services and patrolled by Beaufort County Sheriff's office and SC Department of Natural Resources. Daufuskie Fire Rescue & EMS is also stationed on the Island 24/7.
